useless for editing

I imported my document and it was all bold in italic font, with no options to remove the bold or italic. I selected clear formatting then the font style changed and the format of the document changed so much that I was unable to complete the simple edit that I wanted to complete.
it says "edit documents" but you have to upgrade to import your document, so the upgrade was 3.99 and then I imported a document that I was unable to edit.
